WORD Sent Forth #7

IS JESUS THE TRUE SAVIOR? GOD GAVE CLUES.

Acts 4:12
There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.

That name is Jesus Christ. Christ means the Messiah or the Savior.

What clues were provided by God? The Old Testament of the Bible points towards Him.

The savior will come through a virgin mother.

Isaiah 7:14
All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’).

The savior will be born in Bethlehem.

Micah 5:2
“But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Too little to be among the clans of Judah, From you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, From the days of eternity.”

The savior will become first known in the Galilee region.

Isaiah 9:1-2
But there will be no more gloom for her who was in anguish; in earlier times He treated the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali with contempt, but later on He shall make it glorious, by the way of the sea, on the other side of Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles. The people who walk in darkness will see a great light; those who live in a dark land, the light will shine on them.

The savior will teach in parables.

Psalm 78:1-2
Listen, O my people, to my instruction; Incline your ears to the words of my mouth. I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings of old…

The savior will come healing.

Isaiah 35:5-6a
Then the eyes of the blind will be opened and the ears of the deaf will be unstopped. Then the lame will leap like a deer, and the tongue of the mute will shout for joy.

The savior will come with hard convictions.

Isaiah 8:14
“Then He shall become a sanctuary; But to both the houses of Israel, a stone to strike and a rock to stumble over, And a snare and a trap for the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

The savior will be despised…

Isaiah 53:3
He was despised and forsaken of men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; And like one from whom men hide their face He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.

The savior will suffer much and then die for us…

Isaiah 53:4-5
Surely our griefs He Himself bore, and our sorrows He carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, and by His scourging we are healed.

The savior will be raised from the dead as final proof of being the true savior.

Psalm 16:10
For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave.
