BIBLE Q&A with Johann #23: HOLDING ONTO FAITH

By JQuisumbing

How do I hold on to faith when life feels heavy or unfair?

If stress, external troubles or persecutions are really getting the better of you, you have to ask…

WHERE IS YOUR FOCUS?

Imagine that your palm represents whatever trials you are going through. Now bring your palm close to your face that you cannot see beyond. Then think about spending a whole day trying to do your work. How productive can anyone be under those conditions? So, what can you do about it? It’s quite simple. Just drop the hand for quick and instant clarity. But because [#1] we will always have trials in our lives and [#2] there is darkness in the world, that palm will be back up covering your face and hindering your life again. It is a savage cycle of self infliction. (In other words, you are doing it to yourself.) Now, let’s get back to the question.

How does one hold onto faith and in this case, faith in Jesus? And here lies the only solution.

If you really want to live LIFE, then would it not make sense to go to the ‘Author of Life’ (Acts 3:15), JESUS CHRIST.

Do you want to have strong faith? Then fix your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.  (Hebrews 12:2)

Do you NOT want to be fooled and lied to by the world? Then remind yourself on a daily basis that Jesus Christ is the ‘TRUTH’. (John 14:6)

Finally, when you are again feeling weighed down or persecuted, GO to Jesus who calls to all who are weary and heavy-laden, and He will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)
