I’m stuck again!
Whether it is a lack of a new subject matter or indecision, I found myself staring at a blank page with that blinking curser waiting patiently for me to produce a word, a phrase, a sentence… an article. But nothing comes and the screen remains blank except for that blinking curser. One, two, three days passed until I was surprised that it had been a month since I had ‘placed pen onto paper’ (metaphorically speaking, of course, since I am physically unable to hold a pen. Hahaha).
Thank goodness for friends that wanted my sketches. It was the right exercise to get my creative juices to flow.
A friend of mine just came back from her vacation to the fabled dark continent of Africa with a lot of photos to show me. And since one of my favorite things to sketch is a tree, guess what I found in her photos? The odd looking, bulbous shaped tree of the African savannah, the Baobab.

I enjoyed sketching this. The original photo didn’t show the roots and I felt the picture seemed incomplete. So, I Googled it and found enough examples to add the right type of root into the drawing. I also added a small impala to complete it.
I also sketched these portraits below.

Now… Let’s put pen onto paper.
